Fantastic web design

Having recently created a website I am fully aware of the difficulties of creating a creative site that is easily navigated and maintains the viewers interest. I have nothing but admiration for the designers behind this website. Incorporating such lavish visuals and audio creates a brilliant stage to best showcase Beck's work. Inspired! http://www.beck.com/

Artistically the Beck.com site may be totally genius, but unfortunately when they ditched the old design they also ditched about half the info that was on it. It used to be a fantastic resource for Beck fans, with a tour section listing shows back to the early days rather than just 2000, setlists, a meticulously detailed discography, and a huge, well-organized gallery containing high-quality photos, not the low-res digital images there now. (Sure, they have nice photos on the main page--which are obscured by all the clutter in front of them!) And I'm surprise you find it easy to navigate. It may be interesting or even fun to navigate, but the all-flash design makes navigation pretty frustrating. And I could really do without the incessant sound effects, which always send me hunting for the mute button. If you haven't guessed, I'm a longtime Beck fan, but I rarely visit the new Beck.com.

I agree with moontaco. I am a huge Beck fan but this website is kinda cold and a little boring for me.. it would be great a little more of movement or life there... like a blog or diary where Beck or his band members post time to time... more music options and a feedback with their fans (like a forum or something)..

I appreciate the comments and I do indeed take on board the fact that content has been lost due to the lavish, almost ostentatious web design. However, coming to the site as a student of graphic design and not as a huge Beck fan it is not only a masterful peice of web design but a fun and intruiging site that had me blown away. It is a huge shame that content had to be sacrificed in this instance and it does beg the age old question, function or form?

Personally I have never been a massive Beck fan so from a designers point of view its a pretty funky site, it mixes a few bits up and keeps it interesting.

Also whats your website address would be good to see. Sadly i have still not attempted my own yet, i plan to do it over the summer with the rest though.
